It’s always a joy when Classical Academic Press puts together a new curriculum, and that is why we’re thrilled to offer the Curious Historian series. Covering world history and culture chronologically in four years, the sequence is not typical since the last volume covers “modern” history defined as 1500s onward. Currently only Level 1 is available which covers 3200 – 1600 BC in two semester-length courses (1A – Early & Middle Bronze Age; 1B – Late Bronze & Early Iron Age). The curriculum features well-organized content, a well-written narrative, and an attractive/appealing text loaded with extras like timelines, photos, and helpful graphics. Course extras include songs summarizing key events, hands-on projects, recommended reading lists, Biblical Connections (which tie events to Bible history), and an excellent roots-based word study. In general, this full-color series is user-friendly and student-friendly with robust content.
A Student Edition, Teacher Edition and digital Resource Packet make up the course components. The Student Edition is the heart of the course with textual and sidebar content as well as exercises and activities, while the Teacher Edition provides teacher helps and answer keys. The Archive Extra Resource Packet (a digital supplemental resource available only from the publisher for the time-being) is an overflowing collection of supplemental materials. This resource includes entertaining songs summarizing events, suggested reading lists, as well as printable downloadable files (full-color timelines, reference charts, blank maps).
