Write Better Sentences & Paragraphs

This Study Smart series from Scholastic is for parents who want to help their children develop exceptional writing skills. Since writing skills progress from words to sentences to paragraphs, these are skills needed by virtually everyone, but the upper elementary years are a particularly important time for extra work and focus. The engaging two-page activities (explanations, examples, models, organizers, etc.) in these consumable books take the student step-by-step through skill sets using specific language (nouns, adjectives, verbs), using literary devises (similes, metaphors, personification), developing "tighter" sentence construction, varying sentence structure, using transitions, etc. Each year reviews and builds on the skills practiced in the previous grade level.
